Interview
You are part of that bold group of companies that emerged in times of crisis.
What was the starting point and how has the company evolved to present day?
I have been working in the sector for about 24 years, since 1990, when I worked for a group of companies in which I collaborated in the creation and growth of several organisations. However, the time came, in 2008, when I didn’t feel particularly identified with the project I was working on, so I decided to create my own project, which I found motivating and which I saw as having a future. That’s when I created Europea de Film Plásticos 21, S.L. under the brand name Eurofilm 21 in March 2009.
After completing the viability plan, I started to promote a management system in the company in which I focused on a situational rather than structural approach. Now, we have been in the market for four and a half years and are growing at an average annual rate of 34.83%, with results above the sector average.
What is the company’s working philosophy based on?
Our company has the challenge of assimilating important, continuous technological changes (computerised management and communication systems) in new regulations and laws (customs, European, environmental) and capital resources (new financial products – lump-sum prices, confirming, factoring…), which leads us to take business decisions to adapt, developing all our potential to ensure long-term survival and, of course, make a profit. To do so, we try to add value to our management, defining our strengths within our value chain to stand out from competitors.
What is the company’s vision?
We are a leading supplier of plastic film and expert in the technological control of the product; although we are distributors, we are fully familiar with the manufacturing processes of the materials we market, which differentiates us from the rest insofar as we can offer better advice on our products. We also work with the factory at source on new product development solutions for our customers.
What are the pillars of the mission of Europea de Film Plásticos 21, S.L.?
Our corporate mission is to work on a daily basis to be the first choice. We try to achieve this by offering our customers competitive advantages and a high level of quality. We believe we have to be a prosperous company with which it is good to do business. As an organisation, we are committed to our agreements, self-demanding in our commitments and, above all, solvent in our obligations.
We also try to be a company where people want to work, so we encourage staff participation in new company projects. At young companies like ours, we can only move from effectiveness to efficiency by offering our team a working environment that encourages involvement and active participation in the company’s development We can say that the three pillars of our company are: quality, service and management.
What is the success of your work system based on?
We are located in Sant Quirze del Vallès. Here we have a management programme for the entire operating system of the company, from the purchase of raw materials in Asia to customs clearance at goods reception and their subsequent placement on the market.
The idea with which we started up was to escape from fixed costs and work with variable costs in order to sustain the structural costs of the company, thus eliminating processes within our organisation and subcontracting them to professionals in the sector. This gives us effectiveness and efficiency, cost control and quick adaptation to and implementation of new applications, laws and tools proposed by our suppliers/collaborators.
What products do you offer on the market and which sectors do you target?
Our company’s services include the commercialisation, sale and distribution of plastic films in reels for the Graphic Sector (e.g. publishing, labels, cosmetics) and Flexible Packaging (e.g. pharmaceutical, food…).
We work nationally across Spain and we export to Portugal. In a very short time, EUROPEA DE FILM PLÁSTICOS 21, S.L. has become one of the leading companies in the sector.
We are a distributor with customer service as our maximum value. We offer the necessary advice to our customers to provide them with a product that optimises their production, improves their savings and takes into account the application for which they need it to make sure our product has the best performance and behaviour on the market. Accordingly, we have a wide range of plastic films in our catalogue.
What are your future projects?
The approval and commercialisation of low-thickness aluminium foil for next September and high-thickness polyester for the industrial, packaging and thermoforming sectors.
We also want to expand exports of our products to emerging countries and consolidate the markets where we are already present (Spain and Portugal).

As COVID-19 has become a global problem, together with the interest and concern in safeguarding and increasing health measures, we are working with our supply plants to develop anti-bacterial films.
